The double-six set, for 2 to 4 — four play as two pairs. Lay a tile that matches a number on either end of the line. Get rid of your tiles first, or hold the fewest pips when nobody can go, and you score what the others are left holding.
The tiles
- 28 tiles: one for every pair of numbers from blank to six. Seven of them are doubles.
- A tile's value is the number of pips (spots) on it — the double six is worth 12, the double blank nothing.
The deal
- Block (the house game): 7 tiles each for two players, 5 each for three or four. The rest stay face down and out of the game.
- Draw (a setting on New game): 7 each for two or three, 6 each for four. The rest are the boneyard.
- Four players play as two pairs: seats 1 and 3 against seats 2 and 4, partners sitting opposite.
- The player left of the dealer leads the first hand; after that the lead moves one seat to the left each hand.
Your go
- The leader lays any tile. After that, lay a tile with a number that matches one of the two open ends of the line — it joins that end.
- Doubles lie across the line, the way they do on a real table.
- Can't go? In Block you pass. In Draw you take tiles from the boneyard one at a time until one fits — the last two tiles are never drawn, so then you pass.
Scoring
- A hand ends when someone plays their last tile, or when nobody can go (the line is blocked).
- Everyone counts the pips left in their hand. The player who went out — or, when blocked, the player with the fewest pips — scores everyone else's pips minus their own. A tie for fewest in a blocked hand scores nothing.
- In pairs, partners count their tiles together, and the winning pair scores the other pair's pips minus their own.
- The game is to 100 for two players or two pairs, 61 for three. The highest score wins.
On the table: the line sits in the middle and keeps one tile size however long it grows — on an upright phone it runs down the screen, and when it's long it scrolls in its own box. The two open ends glow gold. On your go the tiles that fit light up: tap one to lay it. If it fits both ends, tap it, then tap the gold end it goes on.
